‘Fuzikk’ is an unprecedented symbiosis of traditional Indian classical music, viz: Hindustani and Carnatic with folk, western rock, and techno genres. Spearheaded by Aditya Kalyanpur, this New Age fusion band stands out in the vista of contemporary music for its ambidextrous fluidity and crisp blending of notes, rhythm, and moods from all that is sheer music! Fuzikk reverberates with the boundless talents of five highly accomplished musicians-Tabla, Aditya Kalyanpur, the eminent young Sitarist Chirag Katti, renowned Carnatic vocalist Chandana Bala, leading drummer Manoj Thapliyal, and keyboard artist Joel Castro.

Band-member bios:

Aditya Kalyanpur-is one of the leading Tabla maestros in the world. Aditya was first seen with his Guru Ustad Zakir Hussain for the famous Wah Taj!” television commercial at the age of 11. Having started nurturing his talent for Tabla at the age of five under the blessed tutelage of the Ustad Allah Rakha and Ustad Zakir Hussain, Aditya has since deftly trail-blazed his way through innumerable awards, accolades for highest rankings, music recordings, world tours and performances. His concerts are reputed to be scintillating with energy, passion, and uncompromising proficiency. Rooted in the Punjab Gharana, Aditya made his mark early in his career as a talented “A” Grade Artist of All India Radio and the winner of Vidyasagar Award and the title of ‘Taal Mani.’ Aditya has always been at the forefront of rendering the course of music through collaborations with eminent musicians and bands both in India and abroad.

Chirag Katti-stands out as one of the most gifted Sitarists of his generation. Chirag, born in a family of musicians, has been learning sitar from his father Pt.Shashank Katti (a national A Grade artist) for last 16 years. Pt. Shashank Katti, being the senior most disciple of Late Pt.K.T Bhatavdekar (one of the senior most disciples of Ustad Vilayat Khan saheb). He follows the ‘Imdadkhani Gharana’ but that does not stop him from being creative with his skills. Chirag plays with the Gayaki Ang (the way a vocalist sings) and is one of the youngest musicians recorded by Saregama H.M.V. He has performed for prominent media outlets and TV channels, and has graced prestigious music events in India and Europe. Chirag has two albums to his credit: Silver Lining and Strings Magic. He has also developed a new instrument, the Sitrazz.

Chandana Bala-is a leading name among Carnatic Classical Vocalists. An ‘A’ Grade artist in Devotional Music and ‘B High’ in Classical Music, Chandana is a much sought-after playback singer for films and classical dance. She had her initial training from her father, Sri. S. Nataraja Murthy, a renowned violinist, and later from Smt. A. Rajamma Keshava Murthy. Chandana is currently training under Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri. R. K. Srikanthan, and Sri. Sriram Parasuram and has been receiving guidance in laya from Sri. Bangalore H. S. Sudhindhra. She has performed all over India and is a regular artist at All India Radio, Udaya TV, ETV Kannada and Doordarshan. Chandana’s dedication and talent have been recognised by many awards and scholarships.

Manoj Thapliyal-is a popular figure among drummers with over 300 performances all over India and Dubai. He has played for bands such as Blue Screen Death and Ihipassika and for eminent music directors. Manoj has also performed in Blue Frog and Prithvi and just recently completed a project for Sony Television.

Joel Crasto-is an accomplished keyboard player who received his musical training under Remond Pimpetta. He has performed with numerous bands. Before his membership with Fuzikk, Joel was based in London for his education at Trinity College.
